The body then reacts with: Internal arousal – blushing – trembling – heart palpitations – stomach cramps – shortness of breath – poor concentration – sweating… The **Adrenaline** dissipates after a few minutes and relaxation sets in. For **Highly sensitive people** a loud noise, an unpleasant scent, confinement (e.g., in a crowd), unpleasant temperature conditions… etc. are enough to trigger a release of adrenaline. You then react with discomfort, inner restlessness, and your entire body may feel tingly. In short – you are overstimulated. ![High sensitivity and hormones](https://www.loesungs-coaching.de/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/ap4e57c5ea504ea_small.jpg) A frequently used phrase by **highly sensitive** in this situation is: ## "This is all getting to be too much for me!" Best for **HSP** is to proactively avoid triggering moments so that it does not even reach the overstimulation occurs. **An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.** ## What can highly sensitive people do to avoid overstimulation? - Always have something to eat with you so that hypoglycemia does not occur. - Earplugs can help if the volume is too loud. - Visit markets and shops when it is not so busy. - More examples to follow! If you have become overstimulated, make sure to find peace and quiet. It doesn't have to be long. A few minutes away from the hustle and bustle, in an emergency even in the restroom, are enough for the adrenaline to dissipate and for you to calm down again. Make sure **HSP** without sufficient precaution and rest breaks for your adrenaline levels, it leads to the production of Cortisol, a "chronic stress hormone". ## You can find more detailed information on the topic "High Sensitivity and Stress" in this video I go into more depth on how to counteract overstimulation in time in my seminar Live Up – Stress Management for Highly Sensitive People . ![E-Book Understanding High Sensitivity by Sandra Quedenbaum, preview on laptop, tablet and smartphone](https://www.loesungs-coaching.de/wp-content/uploads/2026/08/Ohne-Titel-Karte-Querformat-900.webp "Hochsensibilität verstehen") To Registration Sign up for my newsletter.
